This was a quiet Holiday Season...recession and all.
Although, in my house we did indulge on one glam-gift -- unwrapping our new Nintendo Wii just before Christmas.
Wii weren't alone either - (pardon the pun).
"Despite the economic gloom and doom that saddled this Christmas shopping season, a few products rose above the recession and flew off the shelves faster than eight magical reindeer," says the Washington Post.
"Gifts such as the Nintendo Wii, Amazon's electronic book reader Kindle and those furry Ugg boots remain in short supply-- a sign that consumers may not be quite ready to cut every indulgence out of their budgets."
Adding -- "This year, the Wii and Nintendo's DS gaming console set sales records in November, and they are on track to beat the record for the most video game systems sold in one year, according to the company."
And I'll be looking for that Wii Fit -- so I can move my ass, just like those commercials. Yoga always looks more fun on T.V. doesn't it?
'Course, like everyone out there, from now on I'll be watching every penny and cutting back on my spending in '09. But, I think even in the tough times ahead we do need a small taste of glam...'just a little less than normal nowadays.
