Climate Change: dummies hate knowledge

sea_Ice_climate_change.jpg

'Doing my very official: throw-the-bums-out stance, and look at me improving my carbon footprint by just looking out my window. Know what I can see? --

It's hot. Waaaay hotter that it used to be. Somethings not right, and I don't need a stack of science facts to know we are going in the wrong direction. It's so hot I feel like lining up all those stupid turds that say global warming is a myth and bitch slapping the shit heads with my very high air conditioning bill and my right carbon foot print.

But,

I'm a a man of peace...what I really don't understand is anyone with children that has decided to sit this one out, really? -- while the planets continues to cook and burn...way to set an example for all the little ones.

Fiction Tips: Get it down, then get it good

Book_secret_Miracle.jpg

Once in a while, before I totally catch myself, I start to fancy that I'll go off and write that book. What book, you say? Don't be silly darling, I wave you away with my fingers.

'Doesn't matter what book,

'shit, people don't even read 'em anymore anyway -- some of them make great doorstoppers? Back then, it was more to say I did it. Like joining that novelist club. The mere idea of prancing around in my fancy robes (one for each day of the week) -- and smoking a fancy pipe sounded just too sexy to me. A pipe dream.

'The reality is more like, 'girlfriend what type of crack pipe you been puffing? -- 'cause shit, man. Oh, man...

Writing.

Is.

Really F-ing hard - (with a major capital Fuck), yeah, that was then, and now is...so, okay, here's the deal.

I recently started writing a book, again. Haven't quite caught myself yet. I'm still floating down that denial river.

'Haven't got to that -- what-were-you-thinking? -- faze, just yet. Allow me linger in that dream, even if it's just a pipe dream (I'll stuff it in my pipe -- when I finally get one -- and smoke it).

According to my author gal-pal-in-my-head Lisa Scottoline's 9 TIPS FOR GETTING STARTED & STAYING MOTIVATED

I have gently embraced -- oh, ever so gently -- writing tip number four (cause two sounds way too much like a number two):

Vampires: too big to fail

HBO_True_Blood_3.jpg

There's a line in that Cyndi Lauper song 'Money Changes Everything' that goes: 'there was one thing we weren't really thinking of and that's money.'

yeah, you sang it right Cyndi --

'ain't it always about the almighty dollar?

That came to mind while I'm flipping through all the daily papers. Got me thinking well, if they just stick a Vampire in this problem, well -- it just might change everything...maybe even for the better.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm looking forward to HBO's True Blood (which for my money got it just right: Vampires and sex = hit).

I'll also be one of the first twihards in line for the next fix of that dumb low-rent -- c'mon sparkly vampires? really? -- Twilight saga -- (just call me a big sucker for a sexless romance) -- I'll be wearing my pink Go team Edward t-shirt.

Online Campaign 2 Save: "Legend of the Seeker"

save_Legend_of_the_Seeker.jpg

It worked out for Betty White (that online drive to get her to host Saturday Night Live) -- so, hoping we can drum up the same type of online support to save one of my fav show's Legend of the Seeker -- which was dropped off the fall schedule by the CW here (Tribune owned stations) recently.

So, now it's left in the wise hands of the execs over at ABC Television to really believe that people out there are still interested in great fantasy programing -- with a little push from some of it's loyal fans.

I'll put myself out there by saying I love Legend of the Seeker (and watch every episode like a schoolboy going out for ice cream) -- because it's a good looking show with great characters (and a sexy cast) --

and as with most things based off of books, it also has a rich multifaceted back story (in other words while it's not reinventing the wheel, it's also not all a carbon copy of other shows) -- you can tell somebody worked on creating the world they inhabit.

Please join the cause!

Castle: a little bit of mystery

ABC_Castle.jpg

'Gimme a second to do some living out loud -- 'hopefully the folks currently running ABC gets some eyeballs on this -- (from a look at that schedule they need all the help they can get over there).

'Blame it on the sucky-economy, but I kinda want my TV shows to have the right mix of make-me-laugh with just a touch-of-mystery. And this seasons Castle -- (like the formula for Coke) has got it right.

We get the Whodunnit part in there --

but it's so not about the crime or who did it. Although it is fun to play the guessing game before the reveal -- keep that part in. I get that it gives the players something to do -- but when the game was afoot it was more about watching Sherlock Holmes do his twirls.

'Like that Characters Welcome slogan at some other network.

What keeps me tuned in week-after-week - now that we already established what the characters are like...
