'New arguments among Scientists suggests the reason humans have bigger brains (then say other less brainy animals) has much-to-do with the fact that we smartly came out of the trees to go hunting on the coast finding a ready supply of DHA in fish.

Skin Tips: Saving Face!

This will be that day, that's how it started for me. I easily coulda been the before picture that hung in the dermatologist office. Yep, my skin was that bad.

Allow me take you by the hand here. Baby steps, to baby skin,

or

a few easy tips towards a clearer face. Everything starts within, like an inside out approach -- 'not going to repeat all the dieting tips I wrote about previously but they are worth checking out.

Right now I'm sitting here sipping on a warm glass of green tea with some fresh lemon juice. I do want to stress that's more a lifestyle choice.

But, it can be counted as one quick inside-out-tip. Tea has plenty of anti-oxidants, and fresh lemons help to detoxify the body and ultimately the skin.

Diet-101: Foods you need in your life!

In my apartment I do use most of these items — listed below -- they are less about diets, more about packing extra power (or Power Foods).

I have written about them before on here -- and they have made many top power food lists -- (such those compiled by Nutritionist Jonny Bowden)-- However, it's a new year

so let's get 'em out there again

  • Cabbage: Loaded with nutrients like sulforaphane, a chemical said to boost cancer-fighting enzymes.
    How to eat: Asian-style slaw or as a crunchy topping on burgers and sandwiches.
  • Cinnamon: May help control blood sugar and cholesterol.

    How to eat it: Sprinkle on coffee or oatmeal.

  • Pumpkin seeds: The most nutritious part of the pumpkin and packed with magnesium; high levels of the mineral are associated with lower risk for early death.
    How to eat: Roasted as a snack, or sprinkled on salad.

Work-in those Super Foods!

This past year it's been --(less about dieting) -- more about consuming a good balance of the right foods ('course working in those super foods whenever possible)...

I'm all for no-starving types of diets; 'found a few good Joe-six-pack-tips (no pun intended) to share with ya...'enjoy (oh yeah, if got any helpful eating tips where I don't have to starve, please leave me a comment and I'll check into it).

Here the editors of Prevention magazine claim they've sliced into the science that cuts down that belly fat -- (The Flat Belly Diet)

Talking on the early show Liz Vaccariello (Editor in Chief) said there are two types of belly fat:

1) Subcutaneous is the fat you see, the "inch you can pinch." And some subcutaneous fat is necessary (it keeps you warm in winter).
