Cruz Review: How not to wear Jeans

Esquire_Handbook_Style_01.jpg

Question: Are there a lot of men all that interested in learning about proper Style? The editors of one-of-my favorite feel-smarter-after-reading-this --

Esquire magazine just put out a handy little book called:

"Esquire The Handbook of Style."

And they were nice enough to send over a copy -- (via our luxury guide / sister-site Momist.com).

I read the whole thing over two Subway rides. Here's my short review:

Book Genre: Small, Smart and Style (oh my): It's a -- "highly illustrated approach, and laced with Esquire’s trademark humor...(with) -- vital information on every aspect of a man’s wardrobe, from suits and shirts, to shoes and neckties, to watches and other accessories."

Page-turner meter, (or the can't-put-it-down factor): On a scale of 1-10, this one gets solid Nine. But it comes with a disclaimer, if you don't work in a business environment that drops down to a Seven-ish.

Twilight: Live for another day!

Debating "Twilight" the movie is a moot point especially now that the vampire flick drained 70-mil from in its opening weekend. As a true fan-of-the-book, I saw it first-show on Friday afternoon with my partner. My one-sentence take is -- "the movie did no harm to the book."

In comparing the book to movie the partner said it was lacking any real bite. Bringing back my own argument that true Teens in love, eventually do the nasty -- (unless you live in some surreal Disney promise ring world). You could also pick into the low-tech INDIE-feel approach, or what the film looks like.

But, as I said leaving the theater here are my two-words to end any conversation or future critiques: teenage girls (which make up the bulk of that huge fan base) and is the driving force to putting butts-in-seats (some going over and over again)...and they have spoken...

The best news as I see it is that Hollywood will listen and the vamp-futures are secured -- both in terms of future Bella-stories and in general the genre-of-the-dead to keep-on-biting...

Here are my reads for today -- or stories that caught my eye this morning (got an interesting story, add your own by leaving me a comment):

Why do so many evangelical teen-agers become pregnant?
Palin's prego-teen got under the New Yorker in this curious study on why the bible belt can't seem to keep those panties on.

Are you missing the marks?
What's ups with the missing dialogue quotes in some books? New Trend or just hella annoying?

This snarky view under-the-hood slams the sameness of most of Entertainment Weekly's features; isn't the real question -- 'why would anyone want to write for Entertainment Weekly?'
