Climate Change: dummies hate knowledge

sea_Ice_climate_change.jpg

'Doing my very official: throw-the-bums-out stance, and look at me improving my carbon footprint by just looking out my window. Know what I can see? --

It's hot. Waaaay hotter that it used to be. Somethings not right, and I don't need a stack of science facts to know we are going in the wrong direction. It's so hot I feel like lining up all those stupid turds that say global warming is a myth and bitch slapping the shit heads with my very high air conditioning bill and my right carbon foot print.

But,

I'm a a man of peace...what I really don't understand is anyone with children that has decided to sit this one out, really? -- while the planets continues to cook and burn...way to set an example for all the little ones.

Plugging that damn hole

oil_spill_obama01.jpg

'No doubt that image of oil gushing out -- doing it's damage is one powerful money shot for the 24 / 7 news world.

'Geez, it's got it's own daily counter -- oh, please wont somebody plug that hole already?

oh,

and those poor little birds, covered in all that evil toxic blackness -- 'just makes me want to grab my mop and start scrubbing at something oily.

If I was a news man on the scene I'd be creaming in my boxers -- we got the shot --

'now what? -- how about a perfect set up for real change

Starting with that talk now on the TV for Obama to become a truly transformative President -- hey no better catalyst than oil, experts have said.

The villain is set: BP's ugly disregard, cutting corners and their lack of safeguards -- 'got my fist waving 'let's strap them up'

Gay Marriage: only a matter of time...

gaymarriage1.jpg

'most folks under the age of 25 don't understand the debate against allowing same-sex marriage. For me reading Iowa becomes the third U.S. state to allow gay marriage -- I'm thinking are we still going on about this? -- Really, isn't that debate over? -- sounds-so-2000-and-late...

In that case -- "The court compared the right of same-sex couples to marry with historical precedents that struck down slavery and segregation and recognized women's rights." -- kinda think this is now a generational mindset and young people just don't care about this issue -- eventually history will be on the side of any Gay that want to marry -- (as well they should be allowed to).

It's only a matter time...

Tearing pages from History!

Aside from the hopes outlined during this historic week -- what strikes me most -- comes straight from President Obama's own inaugural address:

"there are some who question the scale of our ambitions — who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done..."

That book Nothing to Fear tells of our great depression -- when we had 16 million people out of work.

President Hoover wrongly insisted that "the free market was the only engine of prosperity, that the poor were lazy, and the wealth would trickle down eventually..."

Instead the nation ended up sliding further and further into despair. As the Writer, Adam Cohen, tells the story -- "Franklin Delano Roosevelt turned that despair -- and Hoover's failure -- into hope..."

Bitch, where's my money?

spending_Saving_01.jpg

Here we are. Facing fears.

On the bus today I heard someone shout -- "Bitch, where's my money?" -- into a cell phone. We were all on the way to the mall...

asking the same question.

I fought the urge to call for one big group hug.

* Should we be spending on things we don't really need right now?

Or...enjoy this cup of reality: "Happy holidays. Now don't go out and buy some presents at the mall," suggests Delan McCullaugh (CBS News).
