    How Green Collar fights poverty!

    POST A COMMENT

Right near where I live, I found a place (FoodForLifeSupreme) that does more than put up a smart plate of veggies -- (and focuses instead on the future)...'that trend may become the newest buzz for the next gen.

Hungry for new ideas: With "Blue Collar jobs" fading fast...one idea that helps the planet and helps fight poverty might be just the thing to help -- Green-collar retrofitting jobs -- "a big chunk of the African-American community is economically stranded. The blue-collar, stepping-stone, manufacturing jobs are leaving. And they’re not being replaced by anything. So you have this whole generation of young blacks who are basically in economic free fall.”

    (Source NYTIMES)

places like “Green for All” campaign (greenforall.org)in the Bronx says, “If we can get these youth in on the ground floor of the solar industry now, where they can be installers today, they’ll become managers in five years and owners in 10. And then they become inventors,” said the dude running the show. “The green economy has the power to deliver new sources of work, wealth and health to low-income people — while honoring the Earth."

    Exercise those hunger pains

    POST A COMMENT

Another new study on Dieting and Exercise -- (Source NY TIMES) -- Suggests that "Moderate exercise" and "even intense exercise is no guarantee of weight loss..."

Wait a second, don't jump off that treadmill just yet..."Most volunteers fell somewhere in the middle, losing only a few pounds despite the regimen.Unsurprisingly, the data did suggest that the people who failed to lose much weight had slightly increased their calorie intake by the end of the study."

Basically, "The body does everything it can to steal back the calories you are so desperately trying to work off, studies have found, and different bodies do it at different rates...appetite may increase as the body strives to maintain its weight."

The bottom line is exercise alone is good and gets the ball rolling in the right direction...but, that effort only works if you control what you put into your body...the key is "mind and body" working together!

    The office gets...blue

    POST A COMMENT

"Well-placed profanity has its place, if used sparingly," one expert suggested talking about the blue streak in office work environment (Source New York).

So, "Is it now acceptable to say “fuck” in the office?" -- yes, and no -- "Everyone has his or her own comfort level with strong language," -- so, what if you are easily offended -- "People who are offended by profanity often don't speak up because they fear they won't be viewed as sufficiently hard-core or tough." -- as in any social setting I would say the majority rules.

---- they offer ---- Workplace profanity is everywhere, starting with our elected leaders, like Eliot (“I’m a fucking steamroller!”) Spitzer and Dick (“Go fuck yourself!”) Cheney, and continuing to our unelected moral arbiters, like Golden Globe–winning Bono (“fucking brilliant”).

---- here's the deal ---- Management ultimately sets the tone for unacceptable behavior in a given work place...but, they have to allow that people do need to express themselves (as normal people would).

Q and A Friday: Say no to Sagging Baggage!

    POST A COMMENT

'Sharing is caring? -- so, supposedly a taxi driver in France found Ashton Kutcher's cell phone with over 30 pictures of both Ashton and Demi nude saved on the phone.
There are a couple of issues on the table, starting with this retarded celeb-obsession of all-access-all-the-time...gimme, gimme , gimme more --('how 'bout keeping some of that sense of mystery in our world, if that's possible?):

'finding that fine line -- when to leave a tender moment alone -- (or keep those naughty intimate moments between the two people) -- Sure, I'll admit it, I'm curious. We are all a little curious. I get it.

It makes us all feel better about ourselves, but, don't ya think some things are meant only for the one sharing your bed -- (in other words, please don't make us see Demi's sagging bags...it's not fun, or funny).

Toyota wants to F*ck us from both ends...

    POST A COMMENT

I get smart business, it's how Toyota "overtook G.M. as the world’s biggest automaker" -- by looking ahead and bringing us the "50-miles-per-gallon Prius hybrid" (a half-step in the right direction toward fuel economy)! - Great.

However, I read today's NY TIMES article (Et Tu, Toyota) which explains how Toyota is playing dirty politics to ensure they stay number one...by

"lobbying against the tougher mileage standards in the Senate version of the draft energy bill" -- so, naturally one would ask -- why would a car company that built it's sudo green friendly empire with the popular Prius....then stop improving standards or innovation??! -- (Good question) -- it's all about greed -- or getting more of the other green-friendly thang:

"Toyota wants to slow down innovation in Detroit on more energy efficient vehicles, which Toyota already dominates, while also keeping mileage room to build giant pickup trucks, like the Toyota Tundra..."

“Toyota wants to keep its green halo and beat G.M. in the big trucks, too,” said one expert at the Natural Resources Defense Council...in my house, they call that world domination.

Shocker: more fat people are going to get sick!

    POST A COMMENT

'reading that "twice as many U.S. adults are obese" compared to those skinny bitches in Europe,

    (Source Journal Health Affairs)

-- In that study it says Americans will "suffer more often from cancer, diabetes and other chronic ailments."

-- Yeek, belly check ya'll...I'll be doing a diet soon...and offering some cool stuff I find right here! -- here are five simple tips to help out:

    1. Eat smaller meals throughout the day. Five or six small meals is ideal, helping your body digest more easily while storing less fat that causes cellulite.

    2. Drink water. Drinking water after every meal also helps your body digest while hydrating you. Be careful though, too much water can be a bad thing.

    3. Do exercises that gets your heart pumping. You can vary the intensity and duration of the exercises throughout the week. You can do high intensity/short duration like aerobics and low intensity/long duration like walking several times a week.

    4. Incorporate strength training into your workout. Building the muscles around the problem areas can greatly reduce the appearance of cellulite.

    5. Get plenty of rest. 7-8 hours of sleep will help out a lot. Also, when starting out, give your body about 48 hours of rest after strength training so you do not over-exert yourself.

Ah, it all sounds so simple!
