    Telling the same story...twice

    POST A COMMENT

'Secretly fantasize 'bout going back in time and having a 'do-over...'I might finally get a few things right.

'For Better or for Worse scribe -- Lynn Johnston (60), decided instead of retiring she'd start-over -- “If I could do it all over again,” Johnston writes in one recent Sundays installment:

“would I do some things differently?” She would, and she will.

As she says here in this clip (above), the strip will now be about 50 percent new stuff mixed in with the old stuff -- or what she calls new-runs.

Sweet, half the work for the same paycheck --(another secret fantasy of mine).

'Wonder if this keep-working has-to-do with her marriage recently ending...

Could be...'she needs the extra cash to nurture the cougar buried inside us all -- “I never thought I’d be single at this time of my life,” she said in that interview. “And with that in mind, I still want to work, I still want to keep my hand in it.”

'Just make sure you wash that hand before coming to dinner...

    N. gets a thumbs up...

    POST A COMMENT

I'm lovin' Stephen Kings' "N." -- it really works as a fun online comic book -- (and will also appear in his upcoming collection Just After Sunset '08).

It's the story of a "psychiatrist named Johnny who is treating a severely disturbed patients" that has an eerie watchable quality closer to NBC's Heroes...'definitely worth a-look-see...

There's a comicbook in my cell phone...

    POST A COMMENT

Here's a stupid-idea - (unfortunately backed by some really clever folks)...'make a comic book that you can watch on your cell phone.

I'm all for new technology, but Mobisodes?? - why not just make this for youtube?

Maybe I'm out-of-touch...but, I don't see people sitting around watching their cell phone?? Sounds like a waste of talents -- (sorry Mr. King...this one blows).

    Poor Comic Treatment

    POST A COMMENT

Let me say upfront, I'm not into "sociopolitical comic strips" - (got a message, save it, and ..."go cry to Oprah") - that preachy, hit-me-over-the-head-with-a-message - it's just not fun, and rarely funny -- 'least if you're gonna wave a finger at me for all the wrongs in the world, for Gods-sake, at the very least, make me laugh...Bodega Avenue comes close - I smiled a few times, (so, I'll give them a pass for the preachy-undertones in that comic strip).

but, I find my sensibilities do align, especially when talking about the "haves" and "have-nots" - if that makes any sense.

It's like that motto, kill them with kindness; there's gotta be a "fun" way to make people listen to important issues - like the effects of gentrification in Brooklyn - without sounding like a crybaby...or getting on a soapbox...or, sounding like a liberal asswipe (that hugs...g'aak, trees).

How 'bout, kill them with humor?

    Kill them with entertainment?

Like my Momma used to do when she wanted me to take my medicine, she'd wrap it in something I can stomach...

There's little doubt, that income for the bottom half of American households are worse than ever...'while income for the top one percent skyrockets - (by 228 percent according to the book, "The Big Squeeze"). The rich get richer, the poor get kicked out...yeah, see what I mean...I'm zoning already (putting my own self to sleep).

I got nothing. I'm gonna go out and Make Momma proud, by drowning my sorrows in some happy juice.
